What this means

Fuel consumption is fuel used divided by distance driven. In the metric system it's litres per 100 km — how much the car drinks over a fixed distance. In the imperial system it's inverted as miles per gallon — how far the car goes on a fixed amount. These two measures move in opposite directions, so lower L/100km and higher mpg are both 'more efficient'. Measuring over a full tank gives the most accurate figure.
